Something Fun

Here is a picture of me and Kenny at the Bama game this past weekend. We went with our friends Dana and Ed. The game didnt start until 6:45, and since the weather just changed here, it was FREEZING! As Kenny, Dana and Ed said, "It was perfect football weather." I decided that after we got in the stadium with 92,000 other screaming fans, it wasnt THAT cold! Either way, I got to wear my Peacoat and my Papas houndstooth hat. I think he gave it to me YEARS ago, and I couldnt believe how perfect it was for Alabama football! THANKS PAPA!

We had the best time! WE LOVE YALL! BRING ON THE IRON BOWL IN 2 WEEKS!

Gotta get if off my chest!

I hate stupid drivers! Being from Dallas, I'm used to fast, controlled, crazy, yet controlled, bat out of hell, yet controlled kinda drivers...... and to be honest with you, I MISS IT! Here in Alabama, there is a slight retardation when it comes to common road rules. I hate taking the highway to work because nobody, i mean NOBODY understands that the LEFT LANE IS FOR PASSING..... not for chilling. Though Kenny thinks this state is the golden child of America, I think he will agree with me on that one. At least in Texas, people are trained to get the heck out of dodge if somebody comes up behind you in the left lane.

Well this morning another thing pissed me off. DRIVERS REVENGE! My neighborhood is pretty small. There are 4 subdivisions surrounding mine, and there is literally one way in and one way out. So in the mornings, it can get kind of congested pulling out of my street, but at 7 am when I leave, its not too bad. So I am turning left and some guy whips out from the other side of the street after me, making a scene, like I was supposed to let him go first..... (excuse me all holy one) and he honks and says some choice words. Since there is 1 way out, he follows me for about 5 miles until we get to the highway. This sucks because every time I peek in my rear view mirror, he is starring me down and mumbling under his breath, and since there are NO opportunities to pass me, hes stuck there! ( HA HA.. TAKE THAT) Well we finally get to the highway, and he jumps the white lines and zooms past me, almost hitting me from behind..... IN MY NEW CAR! Stupid punk decided to make me "pay" for turning in from of him 5 MILES BACK..... nothing like a little revenge huh? Stupid Alabama driver!

Anyway, that's all I got. I hate Alabama drivers..... they are stupid and need to go to the great state of Texas and take their driving tests. I told Kenny that when he becomes Governor, his first task must be to get those nifty, fabulous, beautiful little signs you see in Texas on all major highways that says " LEFT LANE FOR PASSING ONlY!" Don't worry Alabamians.... Ill make it happen..... one day!

Straight from www.dot.state.tx.us if you don't know what that means, its TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION........ And I quote:
Keep Right
Watch for signs on Texas multi-lane highways that read “Left Lane For Passing Only.” These signs let you know that the left lane on a divided highway is not a “fast” lane; it is a passing lane.
After you pass someone, move into the right lane once you’ve safely cleared the vehicle. Impeding the flow of traffic by continuing to drive in the left lane is punishable by a fine of up to $200.
Just give me a ticket book, a blinking red light and I'll go to town with those $200 fines. I will call it the "ding dong ticket".... just for ding dongs who don't move the hell out of the left lane so you can pass them!
Have I made it clear that I hate Alabama drivers? Wooooo.. Felt good to get that off my chest! I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Halloween

I finally uploaded these pics on the internet, so I thought I would share. For Halloween, we decided that the "kids" would dress up as Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf. Mostly because Fendi looks cute in anything she wears, and Cash kinda looks like a wolf anyway! We have a million and 2 neighborhood kids, and they asked me all month what they were going to be for Halloween. I had to dress them up because they were more excited about seeing them dressed up than the candy I would be passing out! So, here it is.... Cash and Fendi in HOME MADE costumes....... It would have been so much easier if I could have purchased these on the internet somewhere, but instead, I had to go to Hancock Fabric, Sallys Beauty Supply and Michaels (your welcome sister) and construct these bad boys from scratch!

I get it, Cash doesn't really look like the Big Bad Wolf... but throw me a bone! He had a shower cap with blonde/gray hair hangin off and a shirt on to look like the grandma..... GET IT? And Fendi just looked too darn cute in her little outfit! Anyway, don't make too much fun!

Oh yeah, and here are the beautiful pumpkins Kenny and I carved! Of course you can see my Double T, and his was an "A" for Alabama- we should have opted for a football or something because it just looked like we were trying to spell "AT" or "TA." And yes, I had a ton of inquiries about it that night from the parents of trick-or-treaters! The kids thought the pumpkins were pretty cool, too! They had a few pieces and Cash was tall enough to stick his whole head in there and grab a few "strings."

Did you know dogs can get a bloody nose?

Well, this is something new to me.... I guess I never really thought about it being a possibility! The other night, I was here in the office and Kenny was outside with the dogs playing. I heard the back door open and instead of hearing little tags jingling their way to the cookie cabinet, I hear Kenny yelling "Nurse Mama.... Nurse Mama!" Of course I jump up, thinking the worst..... and he carries Cash in with a blood nose! So here's what happened.....

Cash has 2 "babies" that are near and dear to his heart. One is a Dinosaur and one is a Chicken. Both rubber of course, because if its made out of cloth and has a squeaker, hes turned it into a "shell," meaning hes taken everything out and eaten it! So anyway, if I had to rate to 2, I would say Chicken is his #1 homeboy, and the Dino is #2. The chicken goes EVERYWHERE with him. Its the cutest thing to see him in the morning run into the living room, or office, or bathroom, or under the bed..... wherever he left the little dude the night before..... grab him, run outside, and go potty. I kid you not..... he has to have the chicken in his mouth to poop! So, when Kenny goes outside to take them potty, the chicken is conveniently there, and he likes to throw it as high as he possible can and let Cash "catch it." Cash stares that darn chicken down every inch of its flight back to the ground and tries to "catch it" with both paws instead of his mouth. So I don't really know if the chicken came down full speed and his his little nose, or if he ran into Fendi (which is what Kenny thinks happened) or if he hit the ground....... whatever happened, the dude was dripping with blood! Kenny's shoe was covered, Chicken was covered, and they left a nice little trail of blood on the wood floor from the living room to the kitchen......

Now, when we were researching Australian Cattle Dogs on the internet before we bought him, it said that they have a really high pain tolerance, and this has proven to be true. This is the second incident where he was bleeding and he acted like nothing happened! Not a whimper or cry.....nothing! The first time, he jumped up full speed and hit his eye on the island in my kitchen. The little guy was bleeding from his eye and was more upset with the fact that I wouldn't give him some of the pot roast I was making instead of the fact that he almost lost an eyeball! (side note:Fendi would have played dead and acted like the world was coming to an end! No lie!) But this time for Cash was no different. Kenny was holding him while I was trying to find the source of the bleeding. He was more concerned with finding his chicken and resuming his came of "catch" with his dad! We opted for a few Ice Cookies and let him go on his merry little way!!!

So if you're wondering, YES, dogs CAN in fact get nose bleeds...... and NO, I don't know how to fix them! You cant really shove rolled up toilet paper inside their lip, or make them lean back and stick a Kleenex up their nose....... We just got lucky that it stopped after a few minutes! Has this ever happened to you? And if so.... how the heck do you make it stop!?!?

Here's a picture of the BFF's!

So, Ive decided to blog...... Today was the first "real day" of our vacation. We took the week off to have some quality time. Kenny still has school in the morning, but we have to whole rest of the day off together.

My adventure for the week is painting. We have lived in our house for almost a year now and I am so bored with the blahhhh walls. When you build a house, they give you a pallet of about 10 very neutral colors to pick from, and from that, you have to pick one for the whole house. Now, I bet I could have paid an arm and a leg for all of the rooms to be painted different colors, but whats the fun in that? Plus, we didn't have all of the furniture for the house 6 months before we moved in, which is typically when you pick the paint.... so here I am, 1 year later, furniture in tact, ready to paint! The wall color I have is a flat khaki color- and i HATE IT! Its good because it goes with EVERYTHING, but what I hate the most is the fact that you cant even touch it without leaving a mark. Mr.Clean Magic Erasers have been my best friend this past year- I have used more of those suckers than you can imagine! I'm just ready for a semi-gloss paint that wont smudge!

I love the color burnt orange..... now I know that is almost against the rules, seeing as I went to Texas Tech, not TU, but I love the color for home decor. I had really wanted to paint the spare bedroom that color, but Kenny wouldn't let me 6 months ago, so I opted for a burnt orange comforter on the bed, just to tame my desire for a few months! I feel like that room needs "chair rail molding," and then maybe I can paint the top half burnt orange..... This is the spare room as it is now, but hopefull by the end of the week, it will have a complete makeover!

I don't want burnt orange all over, but maybe in the spare bedroom, and then the master room. I have picked out a Sherwin Williams color called "Copper Mountain" that I love. Its not too dark, not too light, but just perfect. We have a large black leather headboard in our room and black side tables and dresser, but we also have khaki and brown accents. When I envision it in my head, it all goes well... but I guess the true test is when its on the walls! Here is a picture of the master bedroom and copper mountain!

Though its not the best picture, you can kind of get an idea...... This picture does the room no justice. It has really cool symmetry and is a lot bigger in person. I think I'm 96% sold on the orange idea. I may start tomorrow!
Now, for the rest of the house.... Kenny had suggested a red-ish color for the dining room, which i immediately shot down, then talking to my sister last night, she suggested the same thing. I figure I would consider it since 2 people, who have seen/ live in the house, suggested it. I think I may be sold! Not RED-RED, but like my sister described, a darker cranberry color. We found another color at Sherwin Williams that looked neat....... This room has the potential to make such a statement, not only for when you first walk into my house, but if I have the windows open and you are driving by, its the only thing you see! You cant see from this pic below, but I have a huge window on the left side that is open to the front of the house. The color looks more rustic on the computer but it more cranberry in real life!

I love my dining room , even though we never use it! Kenny and I put a lot of work into decorating it and I love the way it turned out!
As for the living room, where I spend the most time, I was thinking a warm color- something in the brown family. I have dark wood floors in there, khaki furniture, and a really big iron work piece above the couch. I love my living room, and I want to find a nice, warm, inviting color. Something between a dark khaki and light brown...... I will just have to play around with some of the samples I got today from Lowes and Sherwin Williams.......

I obviously don't want anything too dark, but I don't want it to be so light that it makes no difference! I think that medium olive-y green color above, called Thatch Brown may look kinda fun..?? Something to offset all of the brown and khaki..... These are times I wish I knew an interior decorator in town!
I think I will leave my kitchen.... We have such pretty cabinets, tile, counter tops and tile back splash, that I don't want a striking color to take away from that. Now, it I could only decide on the other 2 bedrooms and bathroom in my house, I can go buy paint!! any suggestions? ILL TAKE 'EM! That's all for now! I guess Ill go and tape these swatches on the wall and stare at them for a minute before I make my decision!

Well, Its the week before Halloween and we are just cruisin' along! We have had a few very excited weekends here lately. Two weeks ago, we met my family in Mississippi to deliver my much loved PEEJ to them. If you dont know, PEEJ is my 1995 green jeep cherokee that has been with me for 7 years. PEEJ has been with me through a lot of STUFF! Since I was able to purchase a new car last month, that meant PEEJ was no longer needed here in Alabama. My dad bought him for me back in the day, and re-bought him from me a few weeks ago- in order for me to have a little extra cash to put down on my new car- but really so that he could have a new "toy" to play with. He informed me that PEEJ is going to receive a new make-over. He is going to "mud him out" and take him on all of his hunting extravaganzas.... and if you know my dad and brothers, they are hunting every moment that is not consumed with work and sleep. Well, since being delivered to Dallas 2 weeks ago, PEEJ has had a new windshield put on, and has been graced with CAMOFLAUGE SEAT COVERS........ WHAT? my poor baby. Went from having mascara, stilletoes and Louis Vuittons crowding the front seat to CAMO SEAT COVERS!!! I dont really know how to process that information, but Im sure I will survive.... until I see PEEJ at Christmas. Who knows, I may cry, I may try to steal the keys back from my dad...... I dont know yet...... Ill keep you posted! I worship my new 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee, but BOY do I miss my PEEJ! Its like losing a first love.... I mean really.... its so sad! Cant wait to drive him at Christmas for old time sakes.....

Last weekend, we met our fabulous friend Joyce in Nashville for a day of sight seeing..... we ate lunch at a sports bar, shopped a few local stores, went up and down the main strip, popped our head into a few country bars to hear some local music, went boot shopping, watched some of the Bama game, and then ended our day seeing the Grand 'ol Opry. Though we didnt see a show, we went into the museum. I love all that is country music, so the artifacts there were so exciting! Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, Minnie Pearl.... I mean come on... how can you not love it there! We made a pact that we WILL go back and see a show there and stay at the Opryland Hotel! CANT WAIT FOR THAT!

This weekend we didnt have much planned. We went to our friends Dana and Eds to watch the Bama - Tennessee game. It was so fun! We just love them! We took Fendi and Cash over to play with their puppy Riley. SUCH A HOOT! Fendi and Cash showed up all decked out in their best Bama gear.... Cash in his new bama sweater-prep style- and Fendi with her bama t-shirt and red and white bowed pig tails! After the BAMA VICTORY, we chit chatted a little and then went home. It was a good time and cant wait for the next one! We are going to the real deal (bama game in Tuscaloosa) with them in a few weeks and cant wait!

This next week is going to be a boring one! I have a very busy Monday ahead of me.... then Friday is Halloween...... BOO! The one thing I have to look forward to is Kenny and I are both taking a vacation the following week! Im so excited! We havent had a week off together since our wedding and honeymoon. Granted he still has school in the morning, but atleast we can make dinner togther and enjoy eachother for a few stress free days! Who knows, maybe we will do a few projects around the house!!!! Im dying to paint!

We just orderd pizza and we have had THE laziest day ever! They are great to have sometimes! I have watched 3 lifetime movies back to back and he has watched football and typed a few papers for class..... I just love lazy Sundays! I love to open all the windows in the house and let the light shine through..... just so beautiful and relaxing! When the sun went down, I turned on a few lamps and lit a few candles.... love it! Cash and Fendi didnt do squat today either. They enjoyed barking at everything that passed by the house..... dogs, cats, people, paper bags... they dont care! If its moving, it deserves to be barked at- thats their philosophy!

Well I better go back to the couch! Another lifetime movie is bound to be starting here soon! TATA for now....
